Moving the Net

To all net control operators:

If the current repeater becomes inoperable or unreliable, net control should move the net to the next frequency on the list.

One person who is capable of monitoring both frequencies should remain on the original frequency to direct any newcomers to the active frequency.

If possible, Skywarn nets will run on the 147.015 repeater.

If necessary to move, the order will be
1) 147.165 repeater
2) 442.9 repeater
3) 145.130 repeater w/ 88.5 Hz tone
4) 147.015 simplex

Alternate Net Control Event Log

Again, I found an existing ICS form that will do the job.

ICS 211A Net Control Logsheet

Instead of generating a new form, I found the ICS 211A form that should do the job quite well. Just disregard the block on reporting agency.

Mobile Spotter Safety

The attachment is an e-mail that Bob Burns provided when asked to share his thoughts on mobile spotter safety.

Bringing Up a Severe Weather Net Policy Statement

Activating a Hendricks County Skywarn Net

1. A Hendricks County Skywarn Net will be activated if _any_ of the
following conditions exist:

a. A Severe Thunderstorm Warning or Tornado Warning is issued for
Hendricks County.
b. A Severe Thunderstorm Warning or Tornado Warning is issued for
Boone, Montgomery, Putnam, Owen, Morgan, or Marion Counties and the
severe weather appears to be tracking towards Hendricks County.
c. The National Weather Service, either directly or through the
Central Indiana Skywarn Net, asks Hendricks County to activate a net.

Weather alert

Attention RACES members - Due to incoming winter weather including an expected 1" or better ice accumulation, snow on top of that, to be followed by high winds and frigid temperatures, Dave Warren, Hendricks County EMA director, has asked that all Hendricks County RACES members be prepared to assist should the county go into an emergency status. Possible scenarios could include impassible roads, downed trees and power lines, potentially widespread power outages, partial or full loss of cell, land-line telephone and 800 MHz radio systems.

Hendricks County Goblin Patrol

The 2010 edition of the Hendricks County Goblin Patrol will be on Saturday, October 30, from 5:30 pm through 11:00 pm. To participate, you need to be a RACES member and have a current Hendricks County picture ID.
Primary communication will be on the 147.165/442.900 repeaters which will be linked for this event. Bob Burns W9RXR will be net control. If you have 220 capabilities, we will probably use a 220 frequency (to be announced) for talk-a-round. Please be able to monitor the 147.165 at all times, as this is the mission-critical frequency.

Ammended frequencies for radio test 4/18/09

KG9QJ pointed out that the 6m and 10m frequencies were calling frequencies. So here are the amended frequencies; 6m 52.510 MHz and 10m 29.610MHz.. Hopefully these will be more appropriate to the task at hand.
At this point in the game, I am not as interested in out-of-county communications as I am in determining if our people can communicate and with what bands, freqs, and equipment. If this works out well, I would like to see a District 5 communications test to cover all 11 counties, and it is possible some HF might come into play for more distant counties, especially with NVIS antennas.

Hendricks County ARES/RACES Multi-band Test Net

This series of nets will be exploratory in nature and will hopefully help us to determine viable frequencies and bands usable to Hendricks County hams in the event of an emergency.

The net will commence at 11:00 am on Saturday, April 18, on the 147.165 repeater. All stations should try to be able to monitor the 147.165 as coordination and directions for the rest of the test will be passed on this frequency. I will call a separate net for each frequency--there will be six in all. Relays will be taken for simplex frequencies.

Emcomm frequencies

Attached is a PDF file with amatuer radio emergency communications frequencies for Hendricks County. Please download the file and print it out for your reference. Most of all, program your radios with all of these frequencies now so you will have them ready if needed.
